Licences and source offer
What Oink is licensed under, which third-party parts ship with it, and where to get the source of the GPL and LGPL ones.
- Oink itself is proprietary software: copyright MegaSuperSoft, all rights reserved (
LICENSEin the repository). The optional Blender bridge, a separate download, is GPL-3.0-or-later because it runs inside Blender. - Third-party parts keep their own licences. The full list, with versions, copyright holders and where each licence text is, is in
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.mdat the top of the repository. It covers the movie libraries (FFmpeg, LGPL), OpenUSD, Cycles, Alembic and the other libraries in thehydra/folder, Intel Open Image Denoise, the shipped fonts and colour config, and the Python and JavaScript packages. - Source for GPL and LGPL binaries.
SOURCE_OFFER.mdis our written offer: for each GPL or LGPL binary we ship (FFmpeg, the LGPL FFmpeg inside the OpenCV Python package, Blender when you add it, libheif, and the Chromium FFmpeg inside Electron), it names the exact version and where the matching source is. It is written from the installed files by a script, so it matches what you have. The Linux package carries those source archives in asources/folder. - Movies use an LGPL FFmpeg only. The installer fetches an FFmpeg build made without the GPL option and without non-free parts; a GPL build is refused at load time. The FFmpeg inside the OpenCV package is also LGPL and is not used for movie files.
- CameraMatch uses a clean-room vanishing-point solver written from published geometry (Hartley and Zisserman), not from another tool's code.
.vfxcaches are read with a separate package you install yourself (vfxcache); nothing from it is copied into Oink.
